About

The name of my adorable Indian friend (photo) I first met some years ago is Tuladhar. Though most gentle in his maitrī-like and smiley moves which are not quite so hard to learn, he was sometimes poorly treated. He deserves - I assume - fuller citizenship from our other friends of the Delhi Union Territory, and they already gave us indeed a decent amount of coins (one or two rupees only). There are alas a bit more facts about Tuladhar's friend.

Born 1975; PhD 2003; postdoctoral studies in Paris (2003-2007); fields of research: Indian Studies, Buddhist Studies, and History of Religions, including their historiography.

Activity: 15 years of editorship for scholarly periodicals - ARCHÆVS. Studies in the History of Religions (f. 1997) and STVDIA ASIATICA. International Journal for Asian Studies (f. 2000). (It seems I'm afraid somehow mandatory to count years, for Romanian milieux at least: things not only Asian, or scholarly, or even cultural, but of every doable sort hardly have now more than fifteen continuous years behind and only after 1989. Contrary to Tuladhar's time-honoured forte, most Romanian-born folks [as I also am] missed that vital dose of kṣānti.) Teaching (Bucharest, Paris, Delhi), as well as others. More than 50 lectures, some of them invited, in Europe and Asia. Membership: several History of religions, South Asian/Indian and Asian/Oriental studies (inter)national associations in Europe and abroad, including Société Asiatique (Paris; since 2004).

Publications: some 250 titles including the edition of one international Festschrift (for Arion Roşu; Bucharest-Paris, 2004), two edited books (2000, 2004) as well as five volumes of Proceedings (EASR & IAHR 2006 Congress in Bucharest, 2008-2010), chapters in international volumes and entries in encyclopedias, research articles, critical review articles, reviews, as well as an obituary and some essays, written in English and French (also, but less, in Romanian), and published since 1996 mostly in Europe.

Long-term projects outside the current responsabilities and main fields (some partially completed; titles tentative): "Scores of beauty in F-minor-powered worlds: Scarlatti's Sonata Ralph Kirkpatrick 466 and its Spanish harpsichord family"; "Histories of obliteration: insights from Vivaldi's 'Il Farnace'"; and "As Kleist writes on Musil, Musil writes on Cioran: last advances in the precision of the soul."
